Calling Clinician-Innovators! Join us for a day of learning and networking at the Innovation Grant Development Workshop. This workshop is conducted in hybrid mode, with the morning segments held online via Zoom, and the afternoon segments held in person at Duke-NUS. All segments of the program are designed as an a la carte menu where participants can choose the segment(s) to participate in according to their interest.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Gain insights and skillset specific to innovation grant writing considerations
  • Understand the place of innovation in the context of the wider research environment
  • Improve healthtech/medtech/AI/data science oriented grant submissions

Program:

9.05am - 12.00pm: Innovation Essentials (Zoom)

Short lectures on the following topics:

  • Innovation in context of Research/Essential Research Skills for Innovators by Prof Roger Vaughan, Director, CCSD
  • Unmet needs finding and filtering by Ms Arina Kamari, Assistant Manager, MTO
  • Solution-finding, must-haves/good-to-have and getting the right tech partner by Ms Arina Kamari, Assistant Manager, MTO
  • Good healthcare innovations by Ms Lee Chen Ee, Group Director, Innovation & Transformation, SingHealth
  • AI and When To Use It by A/Prof Liu Nan, Centre for Quantitative Medicine, Duke-NUS
  • IP considerations by Dr Lye Whye Kei, Director, SingHealth Intellectual Property Office (SHIP)
  • Regulatory Considerations for Clinical Innovators by Dr James Leong, Head, Health Products & Regulatory Science, Centre of Regulatory Excellence (CoRE), Duke-NUS

Participants should have a grant proposal-in-preparation to take part in this segment.

The Innovation Grant Development Workshop is organised by the Duke-NUS Centre for Clinician-Scientist Development (CCSD) in collaboration with Duke-NUS Academic Development Department (ADD), SingHealth Medical Technology Office (MTO) and SingHealth Office for Innovation (SHOFI).

The Centre for Clinician-Scientist Development supports the research pillar of academic medicine in the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre by nurturing passionate and talented clinician-researchers. The Centre provides career advisory and structured training through different programmes tailored for the various stages of clinician-researchers' careers, spanning from graduating Duke-NUS students to mid-career clinician-researchers.
